Course overview

This course is designed for practitioners who wish to improve their knowledge of periodontology while strengthening the essential foundations of general practice. In a friendly yet rigorous setting, we will cover key topics, combining theory and hands-on practice for a better command of periodontal techniques.

Who is it for

This course is open only to holders of a degree in dental surgery (DDS/DMD or foreign equivalent) and to final-year dental students entitled to practise.

Detailed programme

8:30 am – 12:00 pm:

We will go through all the key steps of rigorous, structured and motivating periodontal care, for the practitioner as much as for the patient.
On the programme:
  •  General principles of periodontology – the basics for general practice
Introduction to the fundamentals of periodontology. Review of the diagnostic and treatment protocols and approaches that are essential for the general practitioner.
  • Conducting an effective first consultation with a periodontal patient: active listening, communication, identifying expectations.
  • Making an accurate diagnosis of periodontal diseases based on clinical and radiographic criteria.
  • Carrying out a complete periodontal assessment, step by step, and interpreting it correctly.
  • Planning the treatment sessions: from the cause-related phase to re-evaluation and long-term maintenance.
  • Determining the right time to move on to surgery when pockets persist.
  • Using the right tools and the right words to motivate your patient, improve treatment adherence and ensure lasting follow-up. Through clinical cases, practical protocols and shared experience, this course aims to strengthen your autonomy in periodontology and to bring a consistent, modern therapeutic approach into your daily practice.

  • Clinical cases and hands-on practice on animal jaws
  • Crown lengthening
  • Open flap debridement
  • Bone grafting (depending on availability of commercial materials)
